Can a photo still look good at 20KB?
Not at full resolution. At 20KB a photograph has to drop to roughly 400 × 300 pixels to stay clean. That is fine for a form thumbnail or a signature scan, but not enough for printing or for anything viewed full screen.
Why does my signature fit at 20KB but my photo does not?
Signatures, stamps and line drawings are mostly flat white space, and JPEG stores flat areas very cheaply. A photograph carries detail in every pixel, so the same 20KB buys far fewer pixels.
The form says 20KB but my image will not go under it. What now?
Switch off 'Keep original size'. With that option on, the tool holds your width and height and only lowers quality, which hits a floor it cannot go past. With it off, dimensions are reduced as well and 20KB is almost always reachable.
Is 20KB the same as 20 KB or 0.02MB?
Yes, all three mean the same thing. Some portals write the limit as 20480 bytes, which is exactly 20KB.
